Does the Sulfate in Shampoos really cause hair loss?

Many people swear it damages hair over time, that it causes male pattern baldness.

Right-- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.

Basically in a nutshell all drugstore brand shampoos are bad for your hair and regardless will strip your hair color.. it's cause they use sodium lauryl sulfate which is the ingredient that makes the shampoo lather.. that's what causes the bubbles. but bubbles mean stripping your hair of everything which includes ESSENTIAL oils which are the oils that keep your hair moisturized and the roots of your hair healthy and strong. Maintaining a healthy scalp enables your hair to grow and establish strong roots. if you dry your scalp out with sodium lauryl sulfate, it will cause weakening of the hair follicles and hair will fall out. Now then you're probably wondering why herbal essences, pantene, tresseme, and all these other companies use this ingredient that's bad for your hair but they use it because sodium lauryl sulfate is CHEAP, thus making it affordable to their consumers (us) for like 3 bucks a bottle. I switched out to Burt's Bees shampoo cause it's like 99% all natural, and currently I'm using Pureology. Since upscale salon brands like pureology don't use cheap ingredients, you can expect them to be pretty pricey. iI you want though, you can also opt for baby shampoos instead since they're formulated to be really really gentle.

And likewise when it comes to conditioner, try to look for one made without silicone. Silicone fills up your hair cuticle/shaft to create a smooth-to-the-touch texture, but creates unhealthy follicle-clogging build-up on your scalp!

The cause of hair loss isn't always easy to pin down, often it's a combination of things that is causing it. one thing is for sure it's best not to wait to do something about it. The earlier you identify the cause of the problem and address it the better your chances of curing it.
