I went to the dermatologist the other day and he diagnosed me with hereditary female pattern alopecia. What he did essentially was tug at my scalp very hard in different areas and then asked me whether any of my family members had any hair loss, which I replied yes, my dad did. And so he diagnosed me with this, however, he did not give me the opportunity to explain to him that we had both had our hair thinning occur during the same period of time (my aunt also had hair thinning during this period of time, but has since recovered after she moved out of our house)... during this period of time we were all really stressed out and depressed due to the passing of both my grandparents and other family related issues. it has been about 2/3 years since I noticed that my hair has started to thin.. (same with my dad, we both had full thick heads of hair prior to this)...
So my question is.. is it possible that this is Telogen Effluvium? because 2-3 years seems a bit much to be telogen effluvium.. but I'm really hoping it is?
Please and thanks..
