I went to see my doctor, which took a couple of months to get an appointment. I mentioned the hair on the top of my head was thinning, and he said I should take Rogaine twice a week. He didn't even look at my head. I wish I asked more questions, but I have social anxiety, and my mind was just clouded.
Should I have him refer me to a dermatologist, or is it not that hard to diagnose? is it possible to tell if my thinning is hereditary, or from my lifestyle? I'm very depressed over this, but please don't tell me to shave my head, as I don't have a very round or masculine face, so I would look even worse if I did that. I have always been depressed, I'm hoping this could be the cause?
here are some questions:
1. what are the chances my hair is thinning do to stress? My brother has a lot of stress, and he has a bit of a bald spot on his crown, and a bit of a receding hairline. his is a little worse than mine, and he is almost 24. My father's side doesn't have any history of baldness, and my mothers side doesn't have much. she only said he uncle went bald, but anyone else in her family just went bald at an old age like most people.
2. I've read Rogaine can cause your hair to fall out. do the hairs that fall out due to Rogaine grow up if you stop taking it? I know the hairs fall out once you stop taking Rogaine, but which hairs fall out after that? is it *only* new hairs that grew due to Rogaine's presence? I don't want to take Rogaine, only to find out it makes things worse. I also read the hair that grows back is fuzzy and thin?
3. can Propecia cause permanent impotence? I know it can cause birth defects, but my doctor said once you want to have a kid, you just stop taking it for a couple months.
Note: I'm always picking and combing the top of my head. I know this definitely makes it worse, but I don't know to what extent.

This stuff my brother uses works because he was losing his hair to the point he would wear hats every where he went. (it didnt help his girlfriend left him for a guy with hair like chia pet)
But he started like 2 yrs ago and alot of his hair is back and looks normal. here is a site that has the stuff..hope this helps.
